Does this work on last release of sxos w or w/o patching, or do I need to go to atmosphere?
Patching is required.
You should move to the Atmosphere b/c all new games and updates require newer firmware + patching is not gonna work for every game.

Whats the exact error you are seeing on switch.
The game starts and crashes after the logo SQUARE ENIX.
It is written :
Error Code 2162-002 (0x4a2)
Program : 0100000000000014
Firmware : 14.1.0 (Atmosphere 1.3.1-master-xxxxx)
an error has occured
most probably custom firmware issue.
0100000000000014 seems to be an audio module.
do you have a sysmodule installed that does something audiorelated? try shutting that down.

Some problem here, put off game card, and game works perfect!
This is my exact setup and it works for me. Only difference is I installed using Tinleaf and NS-usbloader.
Also I installed the 1.0.1 patch.
